Hi Everybody,

I recently got TP2 rhodium. The 1st WM system for me.
I tried to use Outlook in a "natural" way but I found some simple things I can't do.

Explain.
I have 3 accounts in my phone:
- "Outlook", which is synced with my company PC via ActiveSync.
- A "work account", that I use to receive and send emails using my company ISP (i.e. myname@companyISP.com) when I am away.
- A "personal account", that I use to receive and send emails using my personal ISP (i.e. myname@personalISP.com) when I am away.

Everything works: Outlook sync, work send-receive emails, personal send-receive emails.

The most simple thing I expect I can do is:
1) I sync Outlook via Activesync. So I get an updated copy of my pc inbox/outbox in my TP2. Including emails I didn't read yet.
2) I go away, get in the inbox of my phone outlook account and read emails. There's one I need to reply immediately!
3) I reply to that email, but...
the reply goes into the outgoing box but it remains there. It will be sent the next time I'll sync, but it will be next week.

I didn't find a way to use one of the 2 other accounts to send that email from inside the "outlook account". It's a reply, so I have to write it inside that account.
The most natural thing would be:
- an option in the "from" field allowing me to use one of the two accounts
- send the email
- watch it going in the outbox of my "outlook account", so that it will be synced the next time.

in addition,
if I send an email from my "work account", it will go into its outbox, but I cannot move it to the "outlook account" outbox, so that it can't be synced when I connect to my pc!!

I suppose many people encountered the same problem.
I tried to search, but I couldn't find any.

Anyone can address me to a solution?
I thank you all in advance.

I'll bring here any possible working solution found there, and viceversa!

I don't think there's a solution because the email accounts are separate and they dont communicate with each other.
The outlook account is not sending the email by design. Its only used with syncing so forget about sending emails from the outlook account. My suggestion is to have your outlook account as a regular email account so you can get and send emails on the go (just like your other 2 accounts).

I understand your frustration but you have to understand that there are 2 fundamental types of emails in mobile outlook.

Hi, Lorin Bute

well, I can't believe a system can be created as "unuseful by design". I'll keep waiting, should it be an act of faith!!  Wink

In the meantime, please  explain "My suggestion is to have your outlook account as a regular email account so you can get and send emails on the go (just like your other 2 accounts)."
Actually, one of the other two accounts is already the one I'd like to use to send and receive work emails. But it is not synced with my pc outlook.

This may be a dumb idea, but, when you set up your account you have to set an outgoing mail server. Can't you designate one of the other accounts to act as an outgoing mail server? It won't be shown in your "sent" folder in Outlook, but at least you could get your mail out. We are set up with Exchange 2007 and it automatically sends and receives in real-time. I love it!

BR,

It is not unuseful by design. It just works differently. Imagine not having internet on your phone but you would still want your emails with you for personal organization purposes, what do you do? Of course you sync your emails and of course you cant send emails since you dont have internet so why build this option in the outlook email account? If you need to send and email from the phone it means that you have internet on your phone so why bother syncing from the desktop outlook when you can get the emails the normal way, from the internet on your phone?

So you are saying that your personal email on your phone is in 2 places: one that's in the outlook account and one that's a normal email account on your phone right? Why do you need the outlook account then? To save on bandwidth? If that's the case i don't think what you want works, but of course you can investigate some more. As far as i know there's no solution for what you want.

Lorin is right on. PPCs were PDAs before they were phones and I suppose they just left this option in there to provide a greater choice in uses.

When the created account (not Outlook) is set up as IMAP, you'll have everything synced in one place and no need to host it in the Outlook portion of the phone. You can still have it on the Outlook on the computer, but turn the email syncing in ActiveSync / WMDC off.
