Welcome to the site!
Here's my take on what's out there for you: (btw: you CAN load the Android OS on a TP2 and dual boot it - but it's not very easy and involves major hacking)
A
Windows Mobile phone is for you, if you:
- like a today screen that has updated info, such as Weather, Stocks, Tasks and upcoming Appointments
- like the flexibility to tinker and customize to no end
- don't mind a steep - but rewarding - learning curve
- don't mind reading and searching the web for new apps, as they are all over the place
- have certain applications to run for work or home that you just can't do without
- like easy synchronization of MS Outlook.
There are several versions of Windows Mobile phones out there, with a new version on the Horizon next year. While the TP2 has been upgradable to the latest Windows Mobile operating system, it has reached the end of the line in "official" upgrades. There are however, custom ROMs out there to make it fun.
An
Android phone is for you, if you:
- like to customize your wallpapers arrange apps and widgets in a manner that's YOU
- like a small learning curve
- like a developing app market that's going to supply you with apps for years to come
- are not afraid of new things
There are new Android phones coming on the market almost every other month. The hottest one to emerge is the HTC EVO by Sprint. It's got the best hardware a phone can come up with and is upgradable to the newest versions of Android
An
iPhone is for you, if you:
- have a lot of friends that also have the iPhone (there are fun games for friends)
- like an intuitive interface with almost NO learning curve
- like the look and feel of smooth animations
- like the availability of thousands of affordable apps
The iphone is still adding more hardware features every year. The software is decent as well by now. Unlike the other two phones, you cannot add storage or replace the battery.
While all phones work wonderfully out of the box, the WM is the only one you'll be able to tinker with it's innerts, which can give you head aches at times
There are probably a bunch of things I haven't thought of, but it very much depends what you want from a phone and if you want to put effort into it or just have it work out of the box.
Best of luck!!!
