Is there any way of synchronizing over the wireless network to the computer running activesync?

With Bluetooth, if you're in the same room.

XP ONLY - It is the version of Activesync in use that prevents you from syncing via WiFi I believe. Microsoft in their infinite wisdom decided to disable WiFi syncs, giving business's concerns over security of the data transferred during syncing as the main concern (some would argue they wanted business to purchase Exchange software). Group policies, locking down WiFi, damn it even port blocking could have allayed the business's supposed concerns, but if you own a recent-ish version of ActiveSync, the only options are USB or bluetooth.

However, it /used/ to be the case that if you completely removed ActiveSync, and installed a much earlier version. v3.8 or v3.7 I /think/ was the last version to allow WiFi syncs. However, I don't know if Microsoft will have enforced some compulsory upgrade system if you try to use an older version of ActiveSync, or if other key files/DLLs have since been updated, meaning that older versions of ActiveSync won't be of any use. Worthy of some further investigation at least, if WiFi syncing is important to you?

Obviously, if you use Vista or Windows 7, you'll be using Windows Mobile Device Centre (or whatever it is called), and I /believe/ this has never had WiFi as a syncing method. Happy to be corrected of course.
