Actually, now that I've clicked on your link, I see that it's the same source as the previous one, which links to your link.

Did you have any luck with it?  I just downloaded it for the second time, and uncompressed it twice using two different programs, and each time the InstallShield Wizard reads the contents of the package just fine, and then, when it tries to verify the program, throws up the error message that "The contents of this file cannot be unpacked.  The executable you are attempting to run has been corrupted.  Please obtain another copy of the file, verify its integrity, and try again."

I'm downloading WinZip right now, which is what PCD recommends, though I can't imagine it coming up with a different result.  We'll see.  Trying...

Nope, same result.  I'll Google this and try to figure out what's up...

I corrected the problem by downloading it to my desktop instead of the separate, internal drive I had been trying it from.  Maybe it was my firewall.

At any rate, I hope this extended conversation with myself is useful to someone at some point, and I'll write a review of 6.5 in a separate thread.

According to Sprint Admin at SprintUsers.com http://community.sprint.com/baw/message/144853;jsessionid=C9FA8E19E37D859DAD1EC490547525A4.app3jive1#144853 , Sprint has officially confirmed the WM6.5 upgrade for the TP2 at the end of the first quarter.

That could be as long as the end of March.....

That's a drag.  That'll be after MWC, and most likely after the next upgrade to 6.5.

The US official ones have been leaked!

Tmobile:

Verizon

You have to go to another link, but it is there.  I am getting this at home as I can't download anything over 50mb at work.

Can the vzw be used for the sprint tp2 or we just have to wait???

Thanks

We'll have to wait. But from what I'm reading - it will be well worth it. There will be many other enhancements, so they say.

While it's been mentioned here, and links provided to 'leaked' Verizon TP2 WinM 6.5 I have yet to find 6.5 on either HTC's or Verizon's sites ... how long does it take to go from 'leaked' to 'real' ... lets face it I'm a chicken, and I'm not putting an new operating system on my phone, no matter how 'official' people profess it to be until it's on an 'official' site so I don't void my warranties.

I totally understand your hesitancy.

What tipped me towards making the upgrade was that it's distributed by the company which provides my phone's warranty, so I decided that was official enough for me to feel okay doing it.

Just posted on the Sprint web site...

** NOTE: Windows Mobile 6.5 Planned for HTC Touch Pro2 from Sprint
Sprint and HTC are currently developing a release of Windows Mobile 6.5 for the HTC Touch Pro2 that is expected to be available by end of first quarter, 2010. This upgrade will provide updates to the Windows Mobile platform, along with significant enhancements to the Touch Pro2 user interface to allow additional customization/personalization options and more integration with applications users access the most. Well, I have been on the WM6.5 official upgrade now since it was released, and boy do I love it.  I actually turned off the HTC sense and just went with mania.  I LOVE IT.  It is so much faster and responsive.  Now the only thing I miss is the phone lock.  It's still there, but it's under the start menu.  I have to press start and then left soft key.  Sad  But if that is the only draw back...happy days!

Try S2U2: http://ac-s2.com/

There are some other ones out there too, less bells & whistles - but I don't remember which.
